Photos

Friday, December 14th, 2007

We have added photos to the site… It was something we long wanted to do.

Currently we support “public” photos, which means that everyone can see those photos. We are currently featuring pictures from wikitravel, like we do for the travel content. Users are also able to share their own photos, and comment on the photos that we have.

Personally I always like to look at pictures before I visit a place, so I think this is really useful for our users!

New-Zealand events

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

We have recently worked together with Eventfinder.co.nz to bring local events to our New-Zealand page. Now we have many events in almost all NZ locations - music, sport, festivals, markets.

We call our content strategy “glocalization” - meaning that we are a global site, with local content. This is the first step in this direction, and hopefully soon we’ll feature more local information sources all over the world.

The day after

Monday, November 19th, 2007

A day after our launch, we have updated the site again, with some minor fixes. It’s always like this - we did quite a bit of internal testing, but we still had some bugs that we found on the real production server. Oh well!

We also made a page with a list of all our destinations. You can see we have around 2,500 locations, and we’re adding new ones all the time.

Australia

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

We have added content for another country - Australia. As you can see we’re starting with Southeast-Asia and the pacific - so far we have New Zealand, Australia and Thailand. Oh, and Israel, but that’s just because it’s home.

We believe that our site will be especially useful for people who are on a long trip, and who want to find information during their trip. So that’s why we chose that part of the world. We hope to cover more of it soon!

More and more locations…

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

This week we upgraded our Thailand pages - adding more locations, better travel information, and useful links for each city.

It’s getting more obvious today that just relying on user-generated content might be a bit problematic. I think that the right path is to combine both user-generated content with some editing that can make sure the information is useful, and organized properly. Anyway that’s one of our goals, and hopefully we’ll be able to do so ;-)

New Zealand

Friday, September 21st, 2007

We have recently updated our pages about New Zealand. We added many locations, and information and handpicked links. New Zealand is one of our favorite locations (at least for Gil and me..). It’s also a great destination from the TripTouch point of view - there is a lot of good english content, and also there are a lot of backpackers travelers there. The season starts in the end of October, and we’re getting ready with good content.

The idea for TripTouch was born during Gil’s trip there. I also have been down there a few years ago on a longer trip (about 5 months). You can read my old travelogue

Israel…

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

As an Israeli company, we decided to make Israel the first country we focus on . So we have added some locations, travel information and useful links. I think now we have a good site for Israel. We now need to make the same effort for more countries of course.

Most of our information comes from other sites (we’re a sort of mashup I guess) - but it seems that if you can make the information and presentation a lot better with not a large effort.

Travel information

TripTouch has been updated today. We have added travel information, taken from WikiTravel. We’ve also made some small changes and face lifts to the site.
